I am terrified of all snakes, even the harmless black snakes in Umstead, but I saw very few snakes this year compared to years past. However, my worst ever experience in Umstead was meeting a crazed raccoon on company mill in the middle of the day that started waddling straight towards me when it saw me. I turned tail and ran as fast as I could all the way back to the parking lot.
